WHAT ARE THE BEST WARM WEATHER SCENTS FOR SUMMER?
With the warmer weather fast approaching, lets discuss the best way to get the most out of our fragrances this summer. Beaches, sunscreen, barbecues, blooming flowers and juicy fruits is prominent for summer and it’s a time where sweet, potent and natural scents permeate our lives. And of course, with the changing of seasons comes the changing of your perfume. So, what should you be looking out for this summer? What aroma profile best suits you and your surroundings? And how do you adapt to the temperature change?
THINK LIGHT AROMA
Warm weather is known for being better suited to light clothing, lighter colours and cute picnics. Rich scents like sandalwoods and musk will generally be too heavy for the hotter months. Aim for something fresh, clean and breezy like florals, berries, citrus fruits and hint of gourmand. Not sure which scent is right for you this summer? The refreshing blood orange will give you lip-smacking burst of refreshing zest with a hint of leafy greens which is perfect for that warmer weather. SHOULD WE AVOID CERTAIN NOTES FOR SUMMER?
While light florals and a hint of gourmand scents are lovely, not all floral and gourmands are wise for the warmer weather. You should avoid sickly sweet aromas and heavy floral blends such as, rich vanillas, oriental, plums, musk, heavy sandalwoods and rose. Sounds like a lot, doesn’t it?
EXPERIMENT WITH LAYERING
Wearing layers in the summer is usually a terrible idea… unless you’re talking about your perfume of course. Layering your fragrances together is the key to a stunning new fragrance combination that’s personalised to you. Try starting with one reliable summer scent that you love and adore. Something citrusy or lightly floral to give a strong base to experiment with. WHAT'S THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN SUMMER AND WINTER SCENTS?
Summer scents are designed to work with the heat and work with how our body temperatures change. Afterall, perfume works with heat. It is made up of aromatic molecules that once on the skin, the liquid begins to evaporate and the molecules leave your skin, giving off that smell. Different notes in a perfume are designed and combined together to hit the air at different times, hence why they have top notes, middle notes and base notes in every perfume. Perfumes associated with the colder weathers tend to be heavier and longer lasting due to the body not sweating as much, so can easily be overwhelming at first application in the warmer weathers due to quick evaporation.
QUICK TIPS TO MAKE YOUR FRAGRANCE LAST LONGER THIS SUMMER

HYDRATE THAT SKIN - Hydrated skin is the best skin to apply perfume straight onto. Applying unscented lotion before you spritz on your perfume will moisturise your skin and lock in your fragrance better.

PULSE POINTS - Spray your fragrance to your wrists, the nape of your neck, insides of your elbows, and the back of your knees (yes, your knees).
- DON’T RUB! - as tempting to rub your wrists together is, rubbing them together actually breaks down the fragrance molecules and evaporates them quicker!
